Our Book
The Chetco Book
Mike Adams , and those who worked with him and supported this magnificent book, capture the essence of this vibrant community. The excellent photographs copied from family archives add immeasurably to he story of the history and growth of the Chetco Valley and neighboring areas. Derived revenues are dedicated to support the Museum and its mission of preserving the history of the Chetco River and Valley.
The author and key associates of the project are appreciative of the interest , commitment, and support of the many members of the Brookings-Harbor community and its institutions.
The “Chetco” book project was truly a team endeavor and involved some highly skilled professionals supported by a general cross-section of the community who had knowledge, information or artifacts they believed would enhance the project’s product.
Researching and writing the “Pioneer Family Profiles” was interesting, challenging and for the most part enjoyable and rewarding. Getting to know these descendants of Chetco Valley pioneers and listening to as they shared their family traditions, stories, and legends provided a lesson in the importance of our oral histories and our need to collect and preserve them in writing.
